A Weight To Release

“There’s no relief which can be found in this world – let’s look somewhere else”

I heard – I heard from the grapevine
A story about the weight you’re under
It told me about the wound of old
it told me about the dent of the weight

I heard – I heard from the grapevine
It told me about the wound of old
It’s old and it bites, it reminds you now and again
It’s old and it has a permanent scar, a story which still holds you tight

I heard – I heard from the grapevine
It told me about the dent of the weight
It’s a burden from years ago – you’re carrying it now
It’s a burden with its own dent – its place called home

I heard – I heard – I breathe a breath of relief
No, it’s not about your dent – but there’s a new tenant – of that place called home

I heard – I heard – I Jesus hung on that Cross
He took all of your burdens
And now – He calls you to take His
His yoke is easy
And His burden is light

Personal
There’s a weight, a burden which we may carry in life. There are specific things, specific weights which weigh us down – which hinder us from becoming who we’re meant to be. Wouldn’t it be relieving to not have these weights?
Empowering
This poem is a call to look beyond ourselves for relief, because we cannot find that relief within ourselves. This is a call to look to God, to call unto God where relief can be found.
WorldDriver
There is no relief which can come from this world – we’ve seen it time and time again, either through our own journey or through the journey’s of other people. Let’s look somewhere else – let’s turn to God.
Now– Future
We can receive a release from all of our weight, all of our burdens – right now, if we give them to Jesus. All it takes is knowing Him personally and praying a prayer to release, to relieve all that weight.
